Recap: AXN’s Airport Experience® Conference
Just a few weeks ago, we had the absolute pleasure of attending the AXN Airport Experience® Conference for the very first time. (Little did we know that it would be our last chance at human interaction IRL before heading into a nationwide lockdown!) We are so happy to have had this opportunity to learn from the best and brightest in the airport industry.
Our highlights from the conference included a riveting keynote address by marketing expert David Avrin, a panel discussion on diversification led by Ron Gomes of HMSHost, and a fantastic presentation from the president of Menu Matters, Maeve Webster, which reminded us of our recent blog post about crafting franchise menus.
Proposal Design Matters
Our favorite part of the conference, however, was speaking with a member of the board of the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC). In discussing her years of experience on airport procurement and judging panels, this AMAC board member underscored the importance of submitting a professionally designed proposal when responding to an official RFP. She explained how imperative it is to pay attention to details, such as using a legible font, and how a custom binder makes a much stronger first impression than a simple binder clip. In this veteran judge’s opinion, the investment in a professionally designed proposal is well worth it. Although we already know this to be true based on our own experience responding to countless RFPs, it’s always nice to hear that an industry expert agrees!
All in all, we had a fantastic time at the AXN Conference at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Denver. We’re already counting down the days until next year’s gathering in Dallas. Until then, we’ll be working on our game plan for GAME DAY!
