Jessica Reed Presents at HCC’s STRIVE Event for Veterans

Just because we’re still under social distancing orders, it doesn’t mean you can’t continue to learn and develop new skills. The students enrolled in the Hillsborough Community College STRIVE program are continuing their education via online events hosted by local business leaders. On May 9, 2020, Diace Designs Founder and Chief Creative Officer Jessica Reed gave a special presentation on branding to the STRIVE students. In the presentation, she covered five basics of branding:

  •  How to create your brand’s personality
  •  How to select your colors and fonts
  •  How to craft your new logo
  •  Branding do’s and don’ts
  •  Critical brand assets every business needs

These basics can help any new entrepreneur start creating a standout brand. You can learn more about each topic by checking out our previous blog posts on colors, fonts, logos, and critical brand assets. We even have a few entertaining posts about epic branding mistakes by big companies like Tropicana and our very own USF—enjoy!

About the STRIVE Program

STRIVE provides “Startup Training Resources to Inspire Veteran Entrepreneurship.” It is an entrepreneurship training program created by Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) in partnership with Hillsborough Community College (HCC). Veterans, active duty, Reserve/Guard, and their spouses can enroll in the free 6-week program. Participants who complete the program can then apply for funding for their early-stage business or business idea through the HCC Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Seed Fund.

This program has a special place in our hearts because it serves our country’s heroes. With a handful of veterans in her own family, our founder Jessica Reed has a very personal connection to veterans programs and is always honored to have the opportunity to work with them.

Diace Designs + HCC

Diace Designs has a history of partnering with HCC over the years. Most recently, we produced a suite of marketing materials for the school’s annual Susie Steiner Community Impact Award Breakfast. We strive to give back to our local community through sponsorships, volunteering, pro bono, and discounted services; if you know of a deserving nonprofit in the Tampa Bay area that could use marketing support, please let us know.
